Differences between Stainless Steel and C-Steel

Inox vs. C-Steel fittings

The difference between stainless steel and carbon steel is in the chimical composition.

Stainless steel have a minimum chromium content about 10,5%. In the industrial sector usually are used stainless steels with more chromium content than the previous declared (usually about 18%). They also contains nickel, molibdeno and other elements.

The built chromium oxide layer in stainless steel protect from corrosion. Nickel contributes to improving the mechanical properties.

Stainless steel has a higher corrosion resistance and better mechanical properties compared to carbon steel that, however, has a lower cost and it's suggested for closed-circuit plants.
